Description

No doubt inspired by his trip to Venice in 1444, Andrea del Castagno probably painted the Last Supper in the refectory of the former Convent of Sant’Apollonia on his return. The top part of the fresco depicts three scenes from the Passion of Christ: the Crucifixion, Entombment and Resurrection. The former convent also exhibits other work by the same artist.
